Did You Receive A Defective Stryker Hip Implant?

The medical device maker Howmedica Osteonics Corp., operating under the name Stryker Orthopaedics, released a new hip replacement device in early 2009. That device, known as the Rejuvenate Modular Hip System, was implanted in thousands of patients in the following years. For many of those patients, the results have been devastating. The device has proven unsafe and has caused many people to suffer serious and permanent injuries.

The Rejuvenate Device Is Unsafe

Howmedica sold and distributed the Rejuvenate Modular Hip System to be implanted into patients throughout the United States from 2009 until July 6, 2012, when Howmedica began recalling these devices. The recall was issued due to problems of heavy metal fretting and corrosion that had long been associated with metal-on-metal hip implants. These hip implants can destroy the tissue surrounding the hip joint and cause pseudotumors and metallosis. Victims are generally required to undergo additional surgery and many experience permanent damage and severe pain.

Status Of The Rejuvenate Litigation

Rapoport Weisberg & Sims P.C. and others across the country have sued Howmedica on behalf of victims injured by the Rejuvenate device. Many more lawsuits are expected. A panel of judges in Louisville, Kentucky, will soon decide whether to transfer all of these cases to proceed under the management of a single judge.
