Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Filed Against Hospital That Ignored a Woman Having a Heart Attack
February 23, 2004
Rapoport Weisberg & Sims P.C. filed a lawsuit today in a medical malpractice case involving delayed treatment of a heart attack in a hospital’s emergency room. It is alleged that the delay lead to substantial heart muscle damage and permanent disability.
The patient was treated and released from the Department of Emergency Services at a Chicago-area hospital the afternoon of February 22, 2002. Later that evening the plaintiff returned to the same hospital and went through registration at the Department of Emergency Services again. After waiting for more than one hour without being called, the plaintiff traveled by cab to another hospital where she was diagnosed with an acute anterior infarction and experienced cardiac arrest.
