Rapoport Law Office Among Crain’s Chicago Business Illinois Largest Verdicts and Settlements 2005

March 3, 2006

A $2.9 million dollar settlement for a client of Rapoport Law Offices P.C. whose one year old baby died as a result of injuries sustained at birth was noted in the Crain’s Chicago Business Illinois Largest Verdicts and Settlements 2005  The baby was born sick and depressed at a Chicago area hospital. He was resuscitated and transferred to a neonatal intensive care unit where he stayed for one month. The infant was then transferred back to the hospital at which he was born. He was in and out of the hospital until his death, shortly after his first birthday. Rapoport Law Offices, P.C. conducted an investigation into this matter which included experts in five different fields of medicine. The results revealed that the baby died from complications associated with brain damage incurred at or near his birth.  Lead attorney Jon C. Papin explains, "Our investigation concluded that the baby's fetal heart strips were non-reassuring for more then one hour before physicians recognized the problem. By then it was too late."
