$1,000,000 Settlement for Worker Injured After Falling at Construction Site

January 31, 2008 - Rapoport Law Offices, P.C. obtained a $1,000,000 settlement today on behalf of a worker that was seriously injured during a roofing replacement project on a single family home in Illinois. According to the worker, he was hired by the roofing contractor to assist with the roofing work. During the job, the roofing contractor assigned him to remove gutters from the edge of the roof, despite knowing there was no scaffolding or safety harnesses on the job site to protect him from falling. While removing the gutters, the worker lost his balance and fell two stories onto his back, sustaining a fractured vertebrae and a neurogenic bladder. The worker brought claims against the roofing contractor alleging he was at fault for failing to provide a safe work environment. The settlement occurred on the morning that trial was set to begin. The lead trial attorney on the case was Joshua L. Weisberg.
