August 14, 2009 – Rapoport Law Offices has obtained a $495,000.00 settlement on behalf of a 67 year old woman who fractured her left hip after slipping and falling on a CTA bus in April of 2006. The case was set for trial on August 17, 2009. The plaintiff’s trial team, led by attorney Joshua L. Weisberg, alleged that just after the woman boarded the bus, and before she had a chance to grab a pole or sit down, the bus driver put the bus in motion, causing her to fall. The CTA claimed the driver was not required to give her a chance to grab a pole or sit down, even though its own policies and procedures said he was required to. Also, at their depositions, the bus driver and his supervisor both admitted to Rapoport Law Office attorney Joshua Weisberg under oath that this was the driver's responsibility. The CTA was unable to produce an expert witness to support its defense.
