Continental Airlines Flight 1404 Airplane Crash at Denver International Airport in Colorado

December 21, 2008

The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a Go Team to Denver, Colorado to investigate the crash of an airliner on takeoff. On December, 20, 2008, at 6:18 p.m., Mountain Standard Time, Continental Airlines flight 1404, a Boeing 737-500 (N18611), suffered an accident while on its takeoff roll for a scheduled flight to Houston, Texas. Investigators are trying to determine what went wrong to cause the airplane crash. An airport official says the airplane veered off course about 2,000 feet from the end of the runway and did not appear to have gotten airborne. The aircraft ended up in a ravine and burst into flames, with the plane's entire right side engulfed. On board the aircraft were 112 passengers and crew members. Current reports state more than half of the people on board suffered personal injuries including broken bones. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

The passengers on board Continental Airline flight 1404 have legal rights. In what appears to be a similar situation, the aviation negligence lawyers at Rapoport Law Offices, P.C. represented and successfully resolved legal claims on behalf of eleven passengers who were on-board Southwest Airlines flight 1248 which was bound for Chicago's Midway Airport during a snowstorm. After landing, that aircraft ran off the end of the runway crashing through fences and collided with vehicles before coming to a stop. Passengers suffered fear, pre-impact terror, distress, and physical harm.
