April 4, 2011 - Rapoport Law Offices has reached a confidential settlement in a medical malpractice case brought on behalf of a 44 year old man from Rockford, Illinois. According to the complaint filed in Winnebago County, Rapoport Law Offices's client was taken to the defendant's immediate care facility for treatment of severe right foot and ankle pain shortly after falling off a roof while at work. Defendant ordered foot and ankle X-rays, but allegedly did not have a radiologist review them and misinterpreted the X-rays as normal when in fact they showed a fractured calcaneus (heel bone). Defendant allegedly misdiagnosed the man with a sprained ankle and treated him as if he had a sprained ankle for over two months before finally realizing he had a fractured calcaneus. The lawsuit alleged that as a result of this misdiagnosis and mistreatment, the injury was aggravated requiring the man to undergo several surgeries and resulting in permanent pain and disability.
