■ $13 million in aggregate settlements on behalf of clients as a result of a Swissair MD-11 airplane crash in Nova Scotia. The airplane caught fire in flight. The fire rapidly spread when the flames came into contact with flammable insulation.
■ $5 million in aggregate settlements on behalf of clients in the crash of a United Airlines DC-10 aircraft in Iowa after the catastrophic failure of one of the aircraft's three engines severed hydraulic lines, leading to a loss of use of all of the airplane's control surfaces.
■ $2.325 million settlement on behalf of the family of a woman who died when this Piper PA-31-350 scenic tour aircraft was ditched into the ocean off the coast of Hawaii after one of the airplane's engines caught fire. The investigation concluded that a gasket, which did not meet manufacturing specifications, was the cause of the engine fire. The firm is representing the family of a nine-year-old girl who was struck by a Bombardier Sea-Doo personal watercraft. The girl died as a result of her injuries.

■ $1.2 million settlement for a high school student who suffered salmonella poisoning as a result of drinking tainted milk sold by Jewel Foods, a Chicago area grocery chain. This was one of the largest settlements in the series of product liability cases filed as a result of the poisonings.
■ Settlement (amount subject to confidentiality agreement) for the family of an Army Corps of Engineers employee that died in a workplace accident when the rail mounted crane he was operating toppled off a lock and dam into the Mississippi River.
■ Settlement (amount subject to confidentiality agreement) for a worker that suffered severe foot injuries when the scissors lift he was operating collapsed as a result of a defective cable.
■ The firm is representing a machine operator whose hand was trapped in a faulty press at 400 degrees Fahrenheit causing serious injuries and disfigurement.
■ Rapoport Law Offices has filed lawsuits on behalf of six individuals who became violently ill as a result of using contaminated heparin and saline flush syringes. The tainted syringes were manufactured in Chicago by AM2 PAT.
